MONMOUTH COLLEGE Monmouth, III. Amy Grankowski of Lansing has received a student teaching position through Monmouth College. Johnson, an elementary education MICHELLE JOHNSON major, completed the semester with a 4.0 GPA. She has been selected to the National Dean's List and is a member of the National Society of College Scholars, Pi Lambda Theta, an international honor society and professional association in education, and Delta Delta Delta sorority. She will student teach this fall and will graduate in December.

She is a 2001 Munster High School graduate. TRANSYLVANIA U. Lexington, Ky. Munster High School graduate and Transylvania University graduate Ashley Porta was recognized as a Senior Challenge Pacesetter. As part of the challenge, seniors raised $16,661 to fund a scholarship for an incoming freshman.

To be recognized as a Pacesetter, students must pledge $100 or more to the scholarship fund. Porta is the daughter of Thomas and Sharon Porta of Munster. UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO Boulder Johanna Rubsam, 2003 graduate of Valparaiso High School, is a junior at the University of Colorado, Boulder. This is the second year she has received scholarships to Aspen Summer Music Festival School, where she won second prize in the concerto contest. She is substitute trombonist for the New World Symphony, and won the position of principal trombonist in the Boulder Philharmonic.

LOYOLA UNIVERSITY Chicago Bill Emerson son of Bill Sr. and Jeanne of Hammond, was accepted at Loyola University Chicago, School of Law. Emerson is a BILL EMERSON 2004 graduate of Purdue University, West Lafayette, where he majored in engineering. INDIANA UNIVERSITY Bloomington Kevin Johnson, son of Gene and Jacqueline Johnson of Munster, has earned his doctor of optometry degree from Indiana University School of Optometry. He received the IU Optometric KEVIN JOHNSON Student Assocation Past President Award, Dr.

Henry Hofstetter Scholarship Award for outstanding leadeiship and service to the class and A0A Student Leadership Scholarship. He was student delegate to a variety of groups including the IU Alumni Association and served as chairman of the Dean's Student Advisory Committee. He was a member of Volunteer Optometric Students to Humanity. Johnson is a member of Delta Sigma Pi and past president of Pi Kappa Phi. He received his bachelor's degree in management from Purdue University in West Lafayette and is a 1996 Munster High School graduate.
