Ertday, October 7,1977 Van Uuys, VALLEY NEWS 11 Easier conviction of child pornographers hoped City Attorney Burt Pines claimed Thursday that a precedent-setting pornography case will make it easier to convict persons who use children in sexually suggestive pictures. His prediction came after two magazine distributors based in Sun Valley and the operator of a Hollywood adult bookstore pleaded "no contest" to violating state obscenity laws and were fined a total of $6,250. Involved in the case was a 48-page magazine known as Lolitots, which displayed girls aged 7 to 13 in sexually suggestive' poses. The distributors' attorneys, Pines said, had originally argued that the material was not obscene since the children were not shown in any ultimate sex act. Pines said that the State Surpeme Court held last July that the magazine as a whole violated state law.

After that, Lolitots began disappearing from the shelves of adult bookstores. Instead, the crackdown caught Parliament News Inc, and World News (doing business as Pacific News) at 11085 Olinda Street, Sun Valley. Each was fined $2,000 plus a penalty assessment of $500.
