News of Van Nuys and Encino The judge turns 50, and he gets three birthday parties By AGNES VIOLA DOW The weekend of July 8-9 is one that Judge Erwin J. Nebron will long remember. Nebron, who turned 50 on Saturday, July 9, was the recipient of not one, but three different surprise parties given in his honor by friends and relatives. The first party occurred late day afternoon, July 8, when his staff at the Los Angeles Court House honored the judge, currently presiding judge of all the Los Angeles Municipal Courts the largest such system in the world. Ice cream and homemade cakes were served while Judge Nebron received telephone calls conveying best wishes from his colleagues throughout the south- land.

On Saturday morning Judge Nebron's daughter, Cathie, surprised her father with an all- day outing starting with an early breakfast and continuing until late in the afternoon. While Nebron and his daughter were away, all was not quiet in the Van Nuys residence. His wife, Ruth, and Cathie had for many weeks been planning and preparing a variety of foods for a gathering of 50 of Nebron's closest friends. Cathie returned the jurist to his home late Saturday afternoon, only to be whisked away by his wife and another couple, the David Lehrers, who took Nebron off to the Sea Cove Restaurant in the west end of the Valley for an evening of quiet relaxation. But Ruth and Cathie had done their homework well.

While the Nebrona were dining out, Cathie and friends decorated the home, set up buffet tables and a dessert table consisting of four different birthday cakes each with one word written thereon which spelled, when placed side by side, "Happy Birthday Irwin 50." Nebron, a veteran jurist, was the supervising judge of the Van Nuys Municipal courts before his election last year as assistant presiding judge and his election this year as the presiding judge of the Los Angeles Municipal Court.
