Johnston received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Michigan College of Arts in 1951. He received a law degree in 1957 from the University of Law School. In 1958 Mr. Johnston graduated from New York University's Business School and Law School. He also was admitted to the New York State Bar that year.

Mr. Johnston joined- the bank in 1957. He was in a special training program at head office from July, 1957, until March, 1958, when he joined the Trust Department's personal trust division. i July, 1958, he has been in that CLASSIFIED DISPLAY department's pension trust divi. sion.

From 1951 to 1964, Mr. Johnston served with the Army Security Agency in Japan and the Philippines. He is a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity and Phi Delta Phi fraternity. Representatives of the American and Continental Can companies were reported near agree- nent today with Union President lavid J. McDonald on terms iniilar to the union's agreement vith Kaiser Steel Corp. That agreement: called for a 22'A-cent lourly increase in wages and Huge benefits over a 20month criod. McDonald hoped to finish up the can industry pact and turn to aluminum industry negotiations ioxt week in Chicago. union chief obviously hoped the settle- nents covering his members in hose industries would increase pressure for a steel settlement.

Federal mediators called in both jnion and steel industry negotiators this afternoon for a joint meeting. Boyd 24, whose wife, Dianna, lives at: 11 Wilson Uniontown, recently participated in the 4th Armored Division's "Little Camp Perry" rifle and pistol matches in Germany. Specialist, Boyd, a truck driver in Company A of the division's 4th Quartermaster Battalion in 3oppingen, entered the Army in February 1957 and arrived overseas the following December.

The game was played at Lafayette, Ind. Pitt hit on 45 per cent of it shots from the field, but gathered only 43 rebounds. Purdue got 56 rebounds. Dick Falenski scored 21 for Pitt, and teammate Bob Sankey collected 20. Terry Dischinger pulled down 14 rebounds and scored 19 point! for Purdue.
