Tipton and Miami County News New Shopping Center At Peru Started PERU Ground-breaking ceremonies were held Monday for Peru's new shopping center, the Broadway Plaza. The new center will be located on Peru's north side at the corner of Washington Avenue and U. S. 31. The center is being constructed by Donald Shanedling Los Angeles.

The Wilhelm Construction Co. of Indianapolis is the general contractor for the job, which is scheduled for completion before May 1. The shopping center will be built in the shape of an and Wednesday Nrte Special Chicken Perch and Spaghetti Dinners OX YOKE will provide approximately 400,000 square feet of parking space. Six firms have already signed with space left for 19 more businesses. Present for the ceremonies were representatives of the developers, the tenants, city, county, and civic officials, and George Long Realty, local agent for the Shanedling Company.

Intersection To Be Widened Construction work on the reshaping of the U. S. 24 and 31 intersection, located at the west edge of Peru, will get under way at the end of this week, according to Paul Vermillion, state highway department engineer. The present will be re-designed into a Westbound traffic wishing to go south on U. S.

31 will have to stop at the intersection, wait for a left turn signal, and then make a 90-degree left turn. The Mohn Construction Co. of Kokomo was awarded the contract for the construction. The bid was $56,789.65 which was below the engineer's estimate of $57,696.65 Bids for the new traffic signals at the intersection will be opened at the Indiana State Highway Commission on Aug. 29.

They will be installed by the time the road work is completed. Passenger, Warsaw Man, Die in Crash PAULDING, Ohio (AP) A Warsaw, man and his passenger were killed Monday night in a two-car collision one mile north of here on U.S. 127.
