Mr Gibbs was born in this area and moved to Canada ifc IdlO. Mr Gibbs is survived by his wife, Ethel, and one son, Mac of Merritt, B. C. Mr and Mrs Michael Kostanecki and daughters, Cindy, Caroline and Christine left Harlan Thursday to return to Willits, after visiting Mrs Kostanecki's parents, Mr and Mrs Tony Weihs in Harlan and Mr Kostanecki's parents in Detroit, Mich.

Mr Kostanecki is with ithe California Highway Patrol. Mrs Dale Swanson and son, Kim, flew to St. Paul, to attend the graduation exercises for her nephew, Randall Little, son tf Mr and Mrs Wayne Little, Friday. They returned home Saturday. Mr and Mrs Grove Huckins went to Elk Horn last Monday afternoon to visit at the home of her sister, (Mr and Mrs Einer Lei- srtad.

Tuesday evening dinner guests at the Huckins' home were their son and his family, Mr and Mrs George Huckins of Mr and Mrs Otto Nelson's guest who arrived May 28 was itheir daughter, Mrs G. E. Fischer of Tabernash, Colo. Mr Fischer joined his wife at the home of her parents Saturday and the four of them went to Vergas, for a week of fishing. Mr arid Mrs Warren Chaffey, of side, left Friday, May 26, for Guam, where he will be stationed for two years.

Ghaffey has been stationed at March Air Force Base, for tthe past 18 months. Mrs Chaffey is the former Patty O'Neill, daughter of Mrs Claude O'Neill of Harlan. Mrs KL W. Ouren, and children, Randy, Catherine, and Gail, are vacationing at 'the summer home of Mrs Ouren's parents, Mr and Mrs R. H.

Randerson of Malvern, at Gull Lake, Minn. Mr and Mrs Clifford Tamm spent the weekend visiting with her parents, Mr and Mrs Harry Ellis at St. Joseph, Mo. 'Mr and Mrs Lake Havick's guests over the Memorial Day weekend were their daughter and her husband, Mr and Mrs Bava- rb, and his parents, Mr and Mrs Joseph Bavaro, all of Chicago. Mr and Mrs Wilford Doonan's Tuesday guests were Mr amldi Mrs Chris Fiabian and their two grandsons of Santa Ana, Al Fabian and Mrs Eiva Mitten of Harlan.

Mr and Mrs Ben Krull took their son, Benson, to Iowa City Sunday where he was admitted to the University Hospital, Department of Benson will have heart surgery Wednesday and will be confined to the hospital for at least two weeks. Guests last weekend at the home of Mr and (Mrs Tony Madsen were Mr and Mrs Louis Olive and Henry Olive and the Misses Donna and Shirley Jorgenson, all of Kasson, Minn; The Olives are brothers of Mrs Madsen and the Misses Jorgenson, her nieces. Mr and Mrs Richard Madsen and sons of Omaha were in Harlan Memorial Day at the home of ard's parents, Mr and Mrs Tony Madsen and they later attended the Larson family reunion at Irwin. Bocken of Fort Bodge were in Harlan over (Memorial Day. While here they were guests of their niece and husband, Mr and Mrs Herman Engemann and family for a luncheon at the Holiday Buffet. Later they were evening dinner guests in the Engemann home. Mrs Vera Tucker's Sunday dinner guests last week were her daughter and family, Mr and Mrs Clifford Smith and sons of Walnut, lilrs Tucker's son and family, Mr and Mrs Kenneth Tucker, Susan and Tommy visited with her Monday evening. Mrs John Flore stopped in at the paper Office last week to visit with old acquaintances.

Mrs Fiore was the social editor several years ago. They are living at Roselle Park, N. now. Mrs Vera Tucker entertained her liorhood coffee club last Wednesday afiternoon. She served lunch to the eight guests and a social afternoon of sewing and visiting was spent.

Joe Engel, Hawthorne, Calif, visited at the home of his sisters, Mrs Barney Stoltz and Mrs Howard Sorenson last Sunday. J. Lewis received word that their first child was born to Mr and Mrs Donald Lewis of New York City, Wednesday, May 31. The seven pound boy is named Francis Jackson in honor of his grandfather. Dr. and Mrs George Kolk, Council Bluffs, are the maternal grandparents.

Mrs William J. Lewis of Harlan is the great grandmother. Bradley, son of Mr and Mrs Larry arrived home last Saturday evening for a 37-day leave. Bradley graduated from the U.S. Millitary Academy of Preparatory School at Fort Belvoir, last Friday.

General Maxwell D. Taylor spoke at (the commencement Bradley received his Army appointment to West Point and will report there July 3. Cathy, daughter of Mr and Mrs Leslie Burger had eye surgery May at the University of Iowa Hospital ait Iowa City. They returned to Harlan Friday afternoon, May 26. Debra DeWees, daughter of Mr and Kenneth DeWees, arrived home Monday from Cedar Falls where she attended Iowa Northern University. BABY GIRI Mr and Mrs Dean Carter of Council Bluffs are the parents of an eight pound daughter born Friday, May 26. The baby joins a family of four sisters. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs L. D.

Mrs Dale Jensen and Mrs Victor Jensen entertained several ladies at the Victor Jensen home Thursday afternoon as a farewell courtesy for Mrs Royce Christiansen, who is leaving soon with her family to make their home in Minnesota. Mr and Mrs Kenneth Larsen attended baccalaureate services at Atlantic Sunday evening. Gary Richmond, a nephew of Mrs sen, was a member of the graduating class.
