Page 8A, Daily Sitka Sentinel, Sitka, Alaska, Friday, January 9,1987 CBS Overcomes NBC Gillian Campbell Party Set The Greater Sitka Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual dinner party 7 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Centennial Building. Tickets are available from the chamber office and must be purchased by Jan. 14.

Sitkans will be entertained by Gillian Campbell, known as Klondike Kate, who will perform at the dinner. Since 1967, Campbell has "entertained more people in the Yukon, Alaska, and other parts of the north, than any other entertainer, alive or dead" according to a news release. Her show business career flourished when she became the star singer at the Palace Grand Theater in Dawson City, where the original Klondike Kate sang in 1898. Bom in England, she was invited in 1983 to entertain for more than 850 guests at Prince Charles' 35th birthday celebration. This special chamber event is held each year to honor the winner of the chamber's Annual Cossack Cap Award and to honor the board of directors, both outgoing and incoming members.

The evening will also include valet parking at the door provided by the Kiisadi women's Softball team, which is a fundraiser for the club. The social hour will begin at 7 p.m., followed by dinner at 8 p.m. The public is invited to attend and are reminded that prior ticket purchase is necessary. No tickets will be available at the door.
