ROCK ISLAND PLANS REST.

Bankers Tall Rsorganlxera to Await Wage Settlement. The Joint Reorganisation Committee of Rock Island stockholders and de benture bondholders has been notified by bankers that It may as well sus pend Its labors until the railroad labor situation dears. For weeks the com mittee had been working on a plan agreed upon In its general outlines and having the contingent Banc lion of Speyer 4k Co. and Hay den. Stone ex who propoeed to underwrite a new Issue of 63u.OUU.Ouo preferred stock.

The reorganisation plan proviaea tor an assessment of 40 a share on the t75.Ouo.OUO stock outstanding. Stock holders paying the aaaeaament were to receive new preferred stock, dollar for dollar. The bankers were to take the stock on which present stocanoiaers defaulted. With the prospect of an eight-hour day and expectation of heavy additional outlay for operation, the banker, thought a great many stockholders would refuse to pay tna assessment. The Reorganisation Committee has accordingly decided to do nothing until the wage awards are made and It ran be estimated just how much the in-creased pay will coat the road.
