KIDS SHOW PATH FOR OLDER ACES Young Golfers Lead Way Into Match Play Rounds of Western Tourney. SOUTH BEND, UP) The kids may not be around when they are handing out the cups Saturday night, but they certainly had a field day in the qualifying round of the thirty-sixth annual women's western closed golf tournament. Leading the younger brigade into the first of the match play rounds was Patty Berg, the freckle-faced redhead from Minneapolis, who banged out an 80 in her qualifying round despite a badly blisterec hand.

With her were such veterans of the fairways as 15 year old Edith Estabrooks of Dubuque, 15 year olc Hope Seignious of Detroit, 18 year old Hilda Livengood of Chicago, Shirley Ann Johnson, 19, also from Chicago; Beatrice Barrett, 19, Minneapolis; Eva Shorb, 18, Massillon, Ohio, and half a score more who still make no secret of their age. Marion Miley, the defendin champion from Lexington, who showed she was right on her game by tying for the medal with a 79, might well be listed with the younger set, as she's only 23 and objects strenuously to being classed with the veterans.
