Tiger Band enters spring extravaganza WEDNESDAY, APRIL 30, 1975--NEWS RECORD--27 Bound for Paris Marlene Shulan, French teacher at Allegheny Academy in Hampton, and three of her students as they set off last week on eight-day educational trip to Paris. Fifteen students and three teachers from the school were taking the trip. Activities include visits to French schools. Pictured students are Ken Thompson, Mary Carlos and Joan Tremel. At Avonworth Honors to 125 More than 125 students have been named to the third nine-week honor roll at Avonworth Senior High School in Ohio Township.

A Tiger Marching Band will take part in the 48th Sbenandoah Apple Blossom Festival in Winchester, Friday through Sunday.

Bob Hope is grand marshal of the parade, described as "the world's most -famous springtime extravaganza." Queen Shenandoah of 1975 is President and Mrs. Ford's daughter Susan. The Tiger Band will appear in the fireman's parade starting at 5 p.m. Friday. Band members will also march in the grand feature parade beginning at 1:30 p.m.

This year's festival activities include a royal command performance by the New Christy Minstrels. Sunday's events include arts, crafts, square and folk dancing exhibitions, an antique car exhibit and a special show by the Kodak Clowns. Tiger Band drum major is Brian Delmar. Head majorette is Patty Buhl opens engineering, science fair Science and engineering- projects made by students in the Tri-State area" are on display at Buhl Planetarium in Allegheny Square through May 18. Jane, a Hampton High School junior, has played clarinet for six. years and is a member of the school band.

She will travel with a group of 130 young people, aged 15 to 22, to England, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg and France. Park project earns award for NIAHS North Allegheny Intermediate High School's Braille Trail project has been honored with special award certificates from Duquesne Light in its ecology leadership program. Grand prize winners will be chosen in May.

Members of NA's Junior Ecology Club have completely refurbished the Braille Trail and its equipment in North Park as a special project. The trail, built by the North Hills Jaycees, had been the repeated target of vandals. According to Carol Cushman, Duquesne Light program coordinator, more than 6,000 students were involved in ecological projects. She said: "Concern for our environment has not been limited to a single week or a single month at the participating schools. "The most popular projects have been community and school clean-up and pick-up campaigns, energy and water conservation, recycling, poster contests and educational programs." Duquesne's program was developed three year sago.
