Hargon: Canton woman next in line for property, will shows From 1B the heirs," Powell said, so the property would become his.

But the property still would not have gone to Earnest Lee Hargon, according to the will. Doris Ann Lott of Canton, who is included in Charles Hargon's will, would become the heir. "We don't know what was in his mind," Powell said. The farm acreage is valued at $175,000 and the farmhouse at $45,000, but the property was mortgaged for nearly $177,000 to Farmers Home Administration, records show. On March 6, 1997, Charles Hargon signed over a deed of trust to FHA for three loans all made the same day.

The loans were to be paid off by 2012. Family acquaintances have said Charles Hargon let his son know he had until Christmas to make amends, but Earnest Lee Hargon didn't see his father. Meanwhile, Evans said Friday he sent Yazoo Circuit Judge Jannie Lewis his three suggestions for trial sites. Several days ago, Lewis granted Evans' request to move the trial from Yazoo County. Evans' list has two northern places and one southern location.

Powell suggested three northern locations. Neither Evans nor Powell would disclose their suggestions. Evans said he wants the trial held somewhere with demographics similar to those of Yazoo County. The county's population, which is majority black, is about 28,270, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

"I think they're ridiculous," Evans said of Powell's suggestions. He wouldn't reveal the locations. "They are like being on a different planet compared to Yazoo County," Evans said. Gulf's 'dead zone' cited in Texas shark attacks The Associated Press NEW ORLEANS Scientists say the dead zone off the coast of the Gulf of Mexico may be pushing sharks closer to shore in search of prey. The possibility that sharks are avoiding the low-oxygen area known as the dead zone and moving closer to shore coincides this summer with three shark attacks along the Texas coast. "They're going to be avoiding the dead zone," said Terry Stelly, an ecosystem biologist with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. For more than a decade, this area of oxygen-poor water has averaged about 5,700 square miles every summer, which is about the size of Connecticut and Rhode Island combined.

The dead zone forms when massive algae blooms are created by the nutrient-rich spring discharges of the Mississippi River, which empties about 41 percent of the continental United States and two Canadian provinces. Bacteria feed on the algae, devour the oxygen in the water and cause hypoxia, a lack of dissolved oxygen. Anything that can't stomach the drop in oxygen fish can't, but jellyfish and shrimp can flee dead zones. The result? A smorgasbord for predators waiting at the edge of dead zones, according to some researchers. With no study looking at the relationship between the dead zone and sharks, there's no telling if this summer's shark attacks were brought on by the dead zone, said Nancy Rabalais, a leading dead-zone researcher with the Universities Marine Consortium.

"We know hypoxia will concentrate fish, including sharks, but other than that we do not know the correlation between this and shark bites," Rabalais said. Rabalais said that during her surveys of the dead zone she has not observed sharks moving toward the shore. She noted that she has seen stingrays do that. The three shark attacks this summer in Texas took place when youngsters waded or swam in the Gulf and were near or suddenly Su rounded by a school of fish. All three attacks took place near Galveston, which is west of the edge of the dead zone that extends west from the mouth of the Mississippi River..
