In this timely book, Axel Madsen presents an in-depth picture of Hollywood today and how it differs not only from the Golden Era Lotusland but also from the "Hello, Dolly!" opulence of a few years ago. As Madsen compares this new, exciting Hollywood to the old, he expresses the philosophy that Hollywood will survive as long as people want to be entertained.

The methods may be different, but the is the same as it has always been. How Real Is Real? Paul Watzlawick The connection between communication and reality is a relatively new idea. It is only in recent decades that the ways in which people drive each other crazy have become an independent field of research. One of the experts who has been working in this field is Dr. Paul Watzlawick and he here presents some of his findings.

Taking his examples from history, news stories, fiction, jokes, games and puzzles, he gives us a very lively introduction to a serious subject. The Little Victims: How America Treats Its Children Howard James Do Americans really love children? Some children perhaps, but every year hundreds of thousands are born unwanted, and many more are rejected and mistreated because they are chronic "troublemakers" or slow learners or handicapped or retarded or because their parents and teachers lack the capacity to love them. Pulitzer prize-winning author Howard James spent a decade investigating the facts about how we treat these children and why. James shows how our current systems of child-rearing and child care are ineffective and life-destroying. But he also offers some hope and tells what we can do, collectively and as individuals, to save our greatest resource: our children.

Frisbee Dr. Stancil E. D. Johnson Frisbee play joins man's greatest tool, his hand, with his greatest dream, to fly. It is, in short, a phenomenon.

And here at last is a truly complete book for the Prisbee amateur, expert, master and aficionado, including history, lore, disc anatomies, how-to technique, aerodynamics, tricks, games, tournaments and organizations. Annotated with line illustrations, charts, photographs, chronologies, performance tables, glossaries and championship records, it is a definitive treatise by the world's recognized authority on Frisbee. FROM THE JUNIOR DEPARTMENT Al Capone by Mary Letts is an example of the new trend in juvenile biographies. The events of his rise and fall in Chicago are reported factually. Story is kept minimum.

The text is supported with eyewitness reports and quotes from people who knew Capone. The book is meaty, easy to read and full of photos. Letts defines all slang terms for her readers. Although this book is classified as a juvenile book, it is also a good book for adults who want basic information. For children who think a whole book takes too much time to read, Barbara Walker offers The Scared Ghost and Other Stories.

Each of the nine stories (all under six pages) presents a different view of the ghost world. Mystery and suspense are important elements of ghost stories. Walker's stories lack neither element. This book is also of special interest to those who like to tell stories themselves. Remember dark, summer" nights are excellent times to tell ghost stories! Time has long fascinated scientists and science fiction writers.

John Morressy brings young readers a taste of time and time machines in his The Wuriows of Forever. The Bridger family is willed a mansion full of museum pieces with the condition they live in the house permanently. They move in, but when things start to disappear and appear, they begin to "wonder about their decision. And then the excitement really starts. SALE ENDS MAY 8.
