13155 Francisco Ave. Mm Island Ireland, the Emerald isle, land of enchantment, full of castles, pubs and a positively friendly people full of the traditional blarney. If you've never been to Ireland, you owe it to yourself to take one of the most relaxing, uninhibited and thoroughly delightful trips you will ever expen- cncc Ireland is a small country about the size of Maine. Its rich heritage is preserved in the renowned Irish imagination and as a result some of the finest folklore surviving the ages has evolved from Ireland. The country is quiet, compact and boasts a constantly changing landscape from the Aran islands and the cliffs of Moher on the Atlantic to the resort areas of Arklow on the east coast.

Among other things, the people of Ireland raise horses and greyhounds for racing--a national pastime- cattle and sheep. The latter two have produced some very fine meals and some of the most beautiful wools available anywhere in the world. Irish currency is the pound sterling and as in its neighboring country, Great Britain, offers excellent exchange for American dollars. This is definitely a personal testimony as several times I have taken special advantage of the fine buys on Waterford crystal, the Aran knit sweaters, the world famous Irish linens and the delicate and disappearing Belleek china. Traveling around Ireland offers many alternatives to the usual escorted tours.

In this country where language is no problem, rent a car inexpensively and travel at your own pace, obtain a railpass and enjoy the comfortable trains, rent a cabin cruiser for inland water exploring and some fishing or try your luck at horse-drawn caravanning, the Irish answer to our motorized campers. Accommodations can be as comprehensive as you choose. If you'd like to be treated like a king, stay in a castle. If the family is coming along, there we comfortable family hotels, country homes or better yet--traditional Irish farmhouses complete with thatched roofs that can be rented for as long as one desires. personally, found great delight in trying some of the small, old, truly Irish hotels that they themselves frequent.
