IFi-- Cotton futures rallied sharply today on a big boost 1 cotton export quotas by the dcpt. of agri culture.

This action, which will reduce the supply of cotton available for domestic use this season, brought in a wave of- buying in opening trading. The March, May and July deliveries moved 'up the daily trading limit of 510 a bale. The markcl later reacted more than 55 a bale from lighs of the day before turning steady Considerable hedging and profit- taking came out on the advance. Dealers figured that the cotton carryover next year will be between 2,000,000 and, 2,500.000 bales, depending on domestic rate of consumption. The cotton carryover July of this year was 6,846,000 bales.

Late afternoon prices were $3.70 to $6.35 a hale higher then the previous close. Dec. 41.73. March 41.01 and May 41.28. Futures closed $2.95 to $5.40 a bale higher than the previous close.
