8 Beatrice Daily Sun, Beatrice, June 9,1975 Rewarding year for local Lions Almost $1400 was raised for charity and public service by the Beatrice Lions Club, according to a report submitted by retiring club president Larry Schulz. The major income- producer was selling light bulbs, an annual fund-raising project for the club. The sales grossed $700, the report said. Another $400 was netted from club vending machines, and the "White Cane Sale," sponsored by the Lions Club, raised $200. With the money, club members were able to help area youth go to summer camps.

The club assisted in sponsoring two girls to "Girls State" at the State Capitol in Lincoln. The group also helped finance a trip for boys and girls to the Salvation Army summer camp, and for boys to the Junior Citizens summer camp. Obituary "Wholesaling" lottery tickets OMAHA, Neb. Operators of Omaha's lottery are considering "wholesaling" tickets to outstate cities and sharing the profits with them, a member of the lottery group said Saturday. Eugene A. Leahy, an attorney and former Omaha mayor, said the offer to outstate cities undoubtedly would increase lottery ticket sales. "We think it can be done legally," he said.

The lottery will probably be ready to operate about mid- August, Leahy said, about six weeks later than originally estimated. Leahy estimated sales of about $5 million a year. Of that, 45 per cent would be used for prizes, about 13 per cent for administrative costs and 6 per cent for seller commission. The remaining 35 per cent would be profit and under the wholesale arrangement, 17.5 per cent of the lottery proceeds in an outstate city would remain there, he said.
