Summer is coming to an end, school begins next Thursday and everyone seems to be in a hurry With school back in session, we will have many children walking and riding bikes to school at the same time as many of us are dropping kids off and heading to work. The kids are thinking about school and friends and not really thinking about looking out for cars and being safe.

Simultaneously, those of us in cars are often distracted by conversations in the car or thinking about everything that needs to get done today The problem with all of this is our focus on safety and looking out for the children. Jeremy Mark Langer, 21, and Da- Moms and dads, please talk about pedestrian safety and bicycle safety with your children. Emphasize how important it is to slow down or stop at every intersection and always look both ways. Most car and accidents happen because either the bicyclist didn't yield or the driver didn't see the bicyclist or pedestrian. If we ingrain in our children to think safety, our children may make up for that inattentive driver. Regardless of the safe or safe actions of our young pedestrians and bicyclist, those of us in the cars and trucks need to pay close attention, think safety and look out for the children.
