Elizabeth born on April 9, 1954 in Akron to Ed-w a Cavender and Delores Slaughter. Mary worked as a realtor for tually moving to Akron in the early sixties. She departed this earthly life on January 16, 2013. She confessed Christ at an early age and joined a church in New Orleans. Upon moving to Akron, as an adult she joined the People's Baptist Church in July 1979 under the leadership of Rev.

George Goodman. She was a faithful member before her illness. Thanks to Mr. James Morrison, he encouraged her to go to school to become an usher. She did so under Professor Smith's leadership, where she proudly graduated.

She eventually became president of both the junior and senior usher boards at the church, and all her ushers were members of the I.C.U.A. She was the president for five years, and was also a past Chaplain of the Akron I.C.U.A. Bernice, Bea or just "grandma" (she preferred the latter), was a woman who wore many hats in her lifetime. Few people knew of her many talents, including, but not limited to, writing poetry, singing in an all-female gospel group, hairstylist, restaurant owner, just to name a few. She lived a full and colorful life.

During her lifetime she owned her own restaurant in Youngstown, Ohio called She was also the head cook and part-time manager at The Plaza Hotel in Youngstown. As head cook at Hilton West in Fairlawn, her crowning moment was serving breakfast every morning to Dick Clark when he was in town. She last worked for Laurel Lakes Retirement Community in Stow, Ohio. Her work ethic, whether at home or in the workplace, was undisputed. No stranger to long hours of hard work at anything she did, she was a woman of perfection and expected nothing less from those she worked with and for.

In short, she liked things done right and in order. Preceding her in death were her parents, brothers, sisters, and the love of her life who she married in May 1970, A.J. Pugh. She leaves to mourn her passing, loving favorite niece, Rosalyn Mayes (Jeffery) of Columbus, Ohio; her son and grandchildren; niece, Marcella Irby; nephews, Michael and Mizell Irby; best friends, Shirley Woodall and Christine Mobley; and many other friends. A special thank you to Dr.

Wilson, 86, went home to be with the Lord January 19, 2013. She was born in Lake Providence, Louisiana on June 11, 1926 to Emma and Curly Lucas; one of 15 children. Our Mom loved the Lord and shared that love with many as a Sunday School Teacher for over 50 years, and through living a Life that was aligned with the beliefs she taught. She was always ready to offer up a prayer; or a helping hand to those she encountered throughout her Life. She was a wonderful Lady, Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Friend.

She often spoke of how blessed she was to have raised her family and enjoy her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. God worked through her and has now called her Home to her rest. She was a member of Heaven's Gate Community Church. Mom, thank you for all your Love, Prayers and Support -we know that your intentions were those of pure Faith and Love. She was a Charter Member of the Community Church of Portage Lakes, President of the Women's Aeronautic Association, Aircraft Owner's and Pilot's Association, Northeast Ohio Pilot's Association, Military Officer's Organization of America with husband Ernest.

She also was a member of Prestwick Country Club, Turkeyfoot Island Club as well as the Akron Women's City Club. She was even Mayor of Akron for a day. Elizabeth was a devoted mother and wife. Her beauty and charm was always evident, but her soul, character and thoughtfulness were her gift to many. She was always there with hugs and laughter.

She loved playing euchre and she made friends wherever she went and will be equally missed by her friends in Akron as well as in Naples. Elizabeth is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ernest Stadvec; daughter, Marjorie; sons, George, Dan (Norma), Steve and Michael (Franca); grandchildren, Aimee, Adam, Jordan, Morgan, Alyssa, Emily, Arabella and Lucas; great-grandson, Nathan; sister, Kay (Bob) Olenick; and brother, Harlan Finzer, Jr. The family wishes to thank Pastor John Thielenhaus for his comforting words and the staff at the Summa Palliative Care Center for their excellent and compassionate care. Marik, age 88, formerly of Palmyra, passed away Friday, January 18, 2013. Walter lived at the Gardens of Western Reserve for the past 18 months where he received outstanding love and care. He was born November 15, 1924, in Bellaire, Ohio, a son of the late Louis and Lillian (Koranek) Marik. Walter was a proud veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

He was active in many civic organizations, including the Order of Eastern Star Palmy Chapter, Deerfield American Legion, and a 60 year member of the Charity Masonic Lodge in Deerfield. Walter was a hardworking person. He was always busy with the family farm in Palmyra and retired from the General Motors Lordstown plant after 20 years of service. In 1987, Walter and his wife, Janet, moved to Lehigh Acres, Florida. While there, Walter became a member of the First Christian Church and was active in the UAWs retiree program.

Walter also utilized his handyman skills around his condo association.
