Office ofJuvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention under the federal Juvenile Justiceand Delinquency Prevention (JJDP) Act to assist in achieving maintaininq compliance with the mandates and provisions of the ACT. Funds available tnArizona are allocated on a regional basis according to juvenile population.

The Arizona Juvenile Justice Advisory Council policy of three year diminishing funding will be in effect. It is anticipated that there will be S234.219 reserved for continuing projects, rt is anticipated that $305,232 will be available for new projects. The allocation for new projects may increase if projects eligible for continuing support under the three year policy elect not to apply for 1993-94 funding. SERVICES NEEDED In accordance with the 1992 Reauthorization of the JJDP Act. 75 of available fund will be eligible for funding in the following fifteen program areas (other than to non-profit organizations).

(1) community-based alternatives to incarceration and institutionalization for specified targeted youth; (2) community-based programs and services to work with specified groups of parents and delinquent juveniles; 3) comprehensive delinquency prevention programs that collaborate with local systems impact- advocacy activities aimed at improving services for and protecting the rights of youth impacted by the juvenile justice system; (6) educational programs or supportive services for delinquent and other juveniles designed to encourage school attendance and enhance coordination with schools when a juvenile is unable tp attend: (6) development and use of home probation programs; (7) youth-initiated outreach programs; (8) programs related to juvenile delinquency and learning disabilities; (9) gang programs designed to deter illegal activity and promote involvement in lawful activities; (1D treatment programs for youth who abuse or ara dependent on alcohol or other addictive drugs; (.11) law related education programs for delinquent and at-risk youth designed to prevent delinquency; fl2) programs for positive youth development for delinquent and other at-risk youth; (13) proqrams to provide a continuum of appropriate post-adjudication sanctions for delinquent Offenders, including the design and implementation of risk-needs assessment mechanisms to determine appropriate sanctions; fl4) programs designed to prevent and reduce hate crimes committed by juveniles; and (15) programs to assist families of delinquents, where such families have limited English-speaking ability, to participate in prevention and treatment programs.
