Kevin Orosz COMMODORE — The McKelvey Foundation chose one Purchase Line senior to receive the Gold Scholars Award worth $12,500 a year for four years based on his application and personal interview with representatives from the foundation. Kevin Orosz will receive up to $50,000 toward his post-secondary education. Orosz is the son of Kevin and Buffy Orosz, of Burnside. He recently received notification that he has been accepted to Clarion University as a secondary English education major. He is waiting to hear from Juniata College, which is his first choice. Orosz has represented Purchase Line on the Quiz Bowl and Scholastic Scrimmage teams. Mr. and Mrs. James Barrett, the PL interviewers, said that we had given them a really tough deci- sion The McKelvey Foundation, created by Andrew and Dena McKelvey, helps and encourages students from economically challenged rural schools to attend four-year post-secondary institutions. Andrew McKelvey is the founder and chief of TMP Worldwide and Monster.com and Fast- web.com. As a partnering high school, Purchase Line also agrees to take the junior class on a college tour of one of the partnering institutions. Juniors have been making the trip to Clarion University for the past two years.
