3r x-ji September 16, 1964 Entered as second class matter Feb. 23, 1905, at the post office at Moravia, Iowa, under the act of March 3,1879. County Paper Issued Every Thursday C. R. and H.

K. Dhority, Editors-Publishers SUBSCRIPTION RATES Appanoose and Monroe Counties One Elsewhere In United (In Advance) Ramblin's Moravia streets about the square are about as dusty at the present as they have been any time this summer. Merchants find it is a vainless effort to try and keep their stores clean and shiny, for in but a few minutes' after a cleaning and a fast moving car or truck or two down the street and it is again a mess. City officials contracted early in the spring for a street imporve- ment project but the contracting company has failed, to appear. Recent contact with them showed they anticipated on coming yel this fall and blacktop several blocks.

Problem in the officials' minds Is if it is too late to result in a satisfactory job for the money. About two weeks ago many residents pooled together to money to help in oiling streets which has proved raise some satis- the factory in some sections of residential areas. A sprinkling of politicians showed up at the fall festival to dish out a few calling cards and a few books of matches. Most Incumbent officeholders are running for re- eletcion with the exception recorder, Al Dukes. of National followers who look to the Maine election as a barometer of political thinking saw but little conclusiveness.

The far northeast area evidently split their voting completely, naming a Democratic head for the state, but endorsing a complete roster of Republican national leaders. Fall Festival Premium Winners (Continued from page 1) Dahlia Dhority. Boyer, Maude Coffin. 2nd. Tisue, 1st; Maude Coffin, 2nd.
