Mrs. Kend- rlck gave the old building the name of "Queen Ann" probably because she thought It was built in the time of the queen.

An'effort is being made by all the school teachers to put a stop to a practice among, the children of petty thefts which have been giving more or less trouble to the teachers for several years past. Little things disappear daily from the school rooms and it is hard for the teachers to detect tr.u thefts. Yesterday a couple of tiny overcoats were taken from the primary rooms and it was quite a windy day for the little fellows to go home from school without sufficient wraps. Stipt. Carl Miller of Sanford avenue, today requested Justice Ford to dismiss the suit agciinst the Hessnauer boy for shooting his boy with an air rifle to prosecute as he did not' desire him. 'Uncle" A. 'G. Haller, the well known retired armer of Wood Rlv-ar came to the front this morning wiih a story of a snake that he had made pet of and named The snake is feet long and 3 1-2 inches diameter, Mr. Haller says and to him last Summer while he wae fixing a pump. After some time the snake crawled about him as though it wanted to be friendjy and he picked it up and threw It in the cellar.

When he went there the next day it came to meet him and -gentlS' Brawled upon him. He stroked it and let it wrap itself around his neck and from that day on has been petting, thesnake on daily occasions. The snake has rid the cellar of all the frogs and mice and keeps away hoys or night prowlers who might desire to get some of the good whisky or beer he says he keeps jugged up in the cellar. Before the advent of the snake he says he was much bothered with such petty thievery but has no more trouble. He values the snake at the price of a dozen cats and even, refused an offer of made him by C.
