Machines, Home Equipment Draw Crowds at Fair . 'BLACKFOOT - Eastern Idaho State Fair in Blackfoot after opening Children's Day on Tuesday settled down Wednesday to adult interests. . ( v · Attendance was running about the same as last year, when more than 100,000 persons attended. Wednesday morning saw. the crowds intent on more than million worth of farm machinery and household equipment in the commercial building. Shows of new fabrics, housing materials and adjuncts, sewing machines, furnaces, and musical instruments are out. standing.' Bingham Tops Ag Booths - Among the three competitive ·agriculliiral booths, Bingham County, traditionally, in charge of the Farm Bureau, won all the major rosettes and the cup, with first places in artistic arrangement, va- risly', and quality as revealed by the number ol individual blue ribbons awarded. Bonneville Pomona Grange was a close second in ar- rangcmer.t; and Bannock Portneuf Grange was second in total blue ribbon count. . Among educational boolhs the Forest Service was first with its replica of a log cabin to house pic- tines of "Mutliple Uses of National Forests'* and the usual reminders by Smokey the Bear to help avoid fires. Second was the Soil Conservation booth, showing actual - soil layers on slabs with roots penetrating to about tho top of tho lower subsoil. Besides the slabs, printed material explained use of fertilizer, water, and the like. MSTT Wins In the commercials .Mountain Stater Telephone and Telegraph Co. ranked first to display rosette anil nip below the Iheme: "A State and a Service Grow Up Together." On one side are old-fashioned wall anj desk telephones, receiver and transmitter separate, some with bell cranks; and on the other the modern types in all colors, including the dials. He.was put on probation July 3, 1 following his conviction, and on July 29 was arrested on a burg' lary charge in Rupert and returned to the Power County jail. The proposed organization also would undertake , a long-range study leading to formulation of a new tax structure for the state, including its taxing subdivisions. First steps toward'creation of such an organization were taken here at a meeting of Chamber of Commerce officials from Boise and Twin Falls and two state officials. The meeting was called by A. L. Holland, Boise, Idaho chairman for the Citizens Committee for the Hoover Report. As an outgrowth of the session, Sari. Murphy, secretary of the Idaho :Sta.te Chamber . of Com; merce, was instructed to call the Twin Falls meeting for the purpose of developing the organization structure for the statewide citizens' group. Representatives of the stale's professionally managed Chambers of Commerce will be asked to the meeting. The.Twin Falls gathering also will develop an agenda for a statewide meeting.
