Mrs. Ira Kindig returned urn to jobs, according to monthly report of Clifford N. Simmons, manager of the Beatrice office of the Nebras- ca Employment Service. On April 1 there were 319 applicants registered for work with the office, compared to 361 on March 1 and 359 a year ago. Applicants, as the first of this month, included.

200 men and 119 women. The demand for non-farm- workers were up slightly from last month, Simmons said, but down considerable from a year ago. The Beatrice office serves Gage, Pawnee, Jefferson and Thayer Counties. 'Unfavorable weather conditions during March slowed the labor demand for outside construction." he reports. 'While the demand for construction workers was practically nM during the month, there was an increased demand for workers in the manufacturing industries as compared with this month a year ago.

Manufacturing accounted for 44 per cent of the total labor demand, followed by wholesale and retail trade." Seventy-six new non-farm Job openings were received by the office during March, resulting in placement of 46 male and 23 female workers. The demand for farm workers was unusually slow for March, due madnly to the late spring. Initial claims merit Insurance for unemploy- were down 39 per cent during March, while weeks claimed 30 per cent from the previous month. Initial claims were 20 per cent under those of a year ago. Isle of Tasboni' two performances PAWNEE CITY Members of the Pawnee City Rotary Club and their wives and children, are presenting the comic opera, "The Isle of Tasboni," Friday and Saturday nights, April 17 and 18, at 8 p. m. In the high school auditorium. The opera has deep roots In Pawnee City history. It was written in 1901 by a Pawnee City lawyer named Fulton, and has been produced here iv times, most recently in 1929.

It's setting is a cannibal island. Max Martin, member of club, attended the meeting of the Beatrice Rotary Club Thursday, to issue an invitation to Beatrice members. She wore a gown of white embroidered nylon organza designed with a fitted bodice, long bridal sleeves and a sweetheart neckline. The semi- belled skirt ended in an aisle wide chapel train.

Her waist length veil of silk illusion was attached to a crown of assorted pearlized blossoms. She carried white carnations and orange sweetheart roses. Mrs. Richard Krueger was matron of honor and bridesmaids were Miss Karen Slama and Miss Linda Buls. They appeared in alike frocks in an apricote tone and matching pillbox hats.

Each carried a cascade arrangement of white carnations. Clarence Slama served his brother as best man and groomsmen were Fred Prokop and James Slama. Ushers were Eddy Slama and Norman Prokop, who also lit the candles. The bride's mother's corsage was fashioned of roses and her grandmother's was of white carnations. Serving the cake at the reception were Mrs.

Orval Monroe and Mrs. Jim Balin. Pouring were Miss Shirley Prokop and Mrs. Shirley Sladek. Miss Bertha Pape presided at the guest book.
