The rejection w-is contained in a letter drawn up by the Kudd- Inst Inter-Sect Committee in IT-i spouse to Diem's personal broad- i cast Thursday night announcing' orders aimed at "clearing up any suspicion" and asking tor u n i t y , against the Communists. ! The government followed up the broadcast today by i n v i t i n g , Buddhist leaders to meet \\ith an i inter-ministerial committee. B u t the Buddhist leaders said they did not want to enter the talks until they have received i u i i h e r assurances of the government's intentions. The leaders asked the government to release all Buddhists arrested throughout the country in connection with demonstrations protesting government religion^ policy. In a surprise personal radio appeal to the population. D i e rn pledged Thursday night his government would carry out the terms of a compromise agreement reached with the Buddhists- last month. He also .announced that all 14 Buddhist sects would be allowed to fly their flags Si\ sects had received this permission prev iously.
