The Power Reactor Development Co. (PRDCi sought authority for the sharply limited operation. Asst. Atty.

Gen. Jerome Maslowski relayed Michigan's qualified endorsement of the request while Curtis Yoas, chairman and supervisor of Frenchtown's Township Board, reported that community's eiHhusisastic and unqualified support. Also to be heard were eight AEC scientists and engineers and Benjamin Sigai, attorney for the United Auto Workers and the International Union of Electrical Workers. The unions fought issuance of the construction permit, granted earlier by the commission, on grounds that there was no firm guarantee the $84 million reactor would not threaten the thickly populated area. The reactor, part of the Enrico Fermi Atomic power plant, is located on the shore of Lake Erie about 30 miles from Detroit, and Toledo, Ohio.

The government witnesses were expected to report in detail on their investigation of" an accident at the plant Dec. 12, when a leak was discovered in a tube of one of the steam generators. The unions asked that today's hearing be postponed until a report of the investigation had been issued. PRDC opposed the request contending the steam generator was not necessary for the low power operation it seeks permission to launch, and the commission denied the postponement. George W. Van Verst, 92, who practiced dentistry in the Clock Building in Holland, for many years died Wednesday morning at the Green Acres 'Nursing Home in Boonton, where he was taken following a cerebral hemorrhage in St. Petersburg, three weeks ago. Dr. Van Verst retired 19 years ago after practicing some 40 years in Holland.

He was graduated from the Chicago College of Dental Surgery 1899 and began practice in Holland in 1902. He and his wife, Maude resided at 100 West llth St. until her death in 1957. Dr. Van Verst spent his winters in Florida and his summers with his son, Dr.

Paul H. Van Verst, in River Forest, 111. He was a former member of Reformed Church in Holland, later being transferred to First Presbyterian Church in River Forest, and was a member of the Sons of the Revolution, the Holland Century Club and the American Dental Association. Surviving besides the son are a daughter, Mrs. Raleigh (Virginia) Curtis of Boonton, N.
