THE DELPHOS. OHIO SATURDAY. JANUARY 5. 1952 PROMINENT DELPHOS MAN PASSES AWAY Charles H. Myers, Head of Myers Clean- MEN IN SERVICE ers, Dies at St.

Rita's Hospital on Wednesday Evening Funeral to Be Monday. Delphos lost one of its most prominent citizens Wednesday evening when Charles H. Myers, head of Myers Cleaners, died at St. Rita's hospital at Lima. Mr.

Myers had been ailing for about a week past. He became suddenly ill on December 22 and was taken to St. Kita's at, that time for observation. Ho was returned to liomi! a half miles east of Delphos on Saturday, Deccmbr-r 20. apparently much improved.

He suffered another attack Wednesday evening and was rushed to the hospital where he passed away at 9:50. Death was due to a rupture of the aorta. The remains will be removed from the Kolkmcyer funeral home to the family home east of Delphos Friday afternoon and may be viewed there by friends until the time of the funeral. Charles H. Myers was born in Wyandotte county, Ohio, May 26, 1887, the son of Joseph and Francos Myers.

At the time of his death he was 64 years, 7 months and 7 days of age. He was married to Marie L. Rossclit at St. John's Catholic church in this city on July 21, 1923. He i survived by his widow and two children, a son, Jack, who was associated with him in the business and who resides' near hie parents' home east of Delphos, and a daughter, Betty, at home.

One daughter, Barbara, died a number of yeni'g ago. Also surviving are a grandchild and one sister, Mrs. Rosella Kurtz, Carey, Ohio, also brothers, Linus, of Carey; Leonard Myers, M. Cheyenne Wells, and Cletus, West Second street, who wa associated with his brother in the business here. Mr.

Myers was a Veteran of World War a member of Delphos Council, No. 1362. Knights of Columbus, also of American Legion Post 268, the Walterick- Hemme Post of the VFW, the Delpho Club and the Lima Lodge B. P. 0.

E. Mr. Myers was much interested in progress and in the young people. As head of a Chamber 'of Commerce committee, he was modnly instrumental in the drive to raise funds for the Delphos Youth Center and in the carrying forward of the work to give Delphos and its young people the outstanding Youth Center this city has. He was a member af the Senior Governing Board of that institution.

As a business man, Mr. Myers was eminently successful. He came to Delphos from Carey, Ohio, in 1022. He wa engaged in the Dry Cleaning business here for thirty years past and saw his plant grow to be one of the largest and most modern in the state. Mr.

Myers was a member of St. John's Catholic church in this city. Funeral services will be held St. John's at 9:30 Monday morning when a solemn requiem high Mass Will be sung. Burial will be made at St.

John's cemeterv. Ft. Jennings Senior Play, January 13 The Seniors of Ft. Jennings high school will present "One Wild Night, 1 a. farce in three acts on Sunday, January 13.

in the Ft. Jennings high school auditorium, starting at 8 p. m. Rehearsals have, been underway since mid-December, and final practices are insuring nn excellent production. The cast of 17 people, together with other members of the class, are working hard to make this last dramatic, venture pi the Class of an experience long to be remembered.

Her room number is 423. Local Man Married In Mr. and Mrs. Herman Harig-, of Quincy, Illinois, are announcing the marriage of their daughter, Florine May, to Mr. Elmer Pohl, son of Mr.

and Mrs. Henry Pohl, of 108 Adams street in this city. The marriage took place in St. John's Catholic church, Quincy, Blbiois, December 29. The couple plan to make their home in St.

Louis, for the present, where the bridegroom is employed as a jeweler. Local School Boaid Reorganizes Friday Delphos schools reopened after tin- holiday recess Wednesday without incident. according to Superintendent Robert H. Christy. The first meeting of the Board of Education will be held Friday evening, January 4, Christy announced, at which time the newly-elected member, Robert B.

Ro- zclle. and re-elected member Oris Sawmiller, will assume their duties, along with the three hold over members, Richard Thompson, Edwin Williams and Raymond Pohlman. The board will hold its annual rcorganiza- tional meeting at this time. EL ID 'OHIO Township Boards Elect Officials Local township trustees held their annual meetings here Wednesday afternoon with the following- results; Marion township officials elected Clarence Young-peter as president and Leo Hotx vice president. Harry Clawson is the third member of the board and Carl Landwehr is clerk.

They decided to hold their regular meeting- on the first Saturday evening of each month. Robert Veaeh, Middle Point, was named chairman of the Washington township board and A. .1. Pohlman, vice chairman. Ray Upperman is the third mem- her and Joseph Beckman is clerk.

They made plans to attend the annual Van Wert County Trustees and Clerk meeting 1 'at Van Wert on January 11. Star Route Mail Carrier, John B. Lenmkuhle, started his 11th year of daily treks to the Putnam county villages of Ft. Jennings, Ottovillo and Cloverdale, Wednesday. During the twelve-months of Mr.

Lehmkuhle handled a total of 13,980 bags of mall to and from the three Putnam towns. Of the total 11,206 were sent to the three villages and 2,774 were brought to Delphos. Lehmkuhle makes two round trips daily; except Sunday, on the Star Route, leaving here at approximately 7 a. m. each morning and returning at about 4:50 p.

m. the second trip. Slippery roads during the Christmas holidays caused him to miss Cloverdale only one-day during the year, although the trip to and Ottovillc was completed every day. In addition to the 13,980 bags of mail which was 245 greater than the previous year, 950 dozen eggs, 41 tires and 720 chickens were transportd by the Star Route carrier. One accident, between Christmas and New Years, marred Mr.

Lehmkuhl's record for the year, when he slid into the ditch and took down a mail box at the same time. and refreshments were served. The next regular meeting will be January 27th at the C. K. of O.
