Williamsburg, Iowa 10 YEARS AGO Journal-Tribune Williamsburg SEPTEMBER 19, 1946 Cars driven by John Finnegan Parnell and Albert Wetjen of i Williamsburg collided at the in- tersection of the Presbyterian church corner ait about noon 'Tuesday. The Wetjen car was 'overturned and it was necessary for a wrecker to upright the car. I Mr. Finnegan was going east past the church and the Wetjen car was-going south when the acci- Ident occurred. Neither driver was but the front end of the 'Finnegan car was damaged and the top of the Wetjen car was smashed.

Mr, John Timm was the victim of an accident Monday afternoon when he sustained a fractured leg 'while working with the County road crew. Mr. Timm has been setting the charges of dynamite and blowing up stumps that must be removed. The workmen were attempting to pull a stump which 'had become loosened. It suddenly 'gave way throwing Mr.

Timm 'upon the ground and the tractor I driven by Wilford Hopp ran over Mr. Timm's leg. The injured man was immediately rushed the i local hospital where he remains a patient. Friends of Mr. and Mrs.

Nearly 700 persons, including relatives and friends of those honored, and members of the livestock industry, attended the anniversary celebration which was held recently in the International Amphitheatre at Chicago. Top honors were shared by two livestock farmers, Fred Anthony, 94, of Wyanet, 111., and William H. Coultrip, 89, of Somonauk both of whom had shippec to the Chicago yards each year for 70 years, starting way back in 1886. Secretary Benson, congratulating the honored guests and the Chicago Stock Yards lor their outstanding records, said: "Government has encroached on other pusses ol agriculture, but you your free livestock market Yours is a free market, a system, and I hope you can continue to keep livestock in the hands of private enterprise. You must work to keep it free.
