Th Piftburgh Prsni TKueUv. De 15 I960 TV SCOUT Thursday Television Program P. M. Thursday to 4:00 P. M.

Friday) 2 Situation Comedies Tops Tonight On TV BEST BETS It has become fashionable to sneer at situation comedies but frequently some of the finest laughs now being purveyed on TV are found on them. There are two such tonight 12:30 P. M. SEARCH FOR TOMORROW 4 BEAT THE CLOCK 6, 7. 1 1 IT COULD BE YOU (Color) 9 TEL-ALL NEWS 10 FARM, HOME AND GARDEN 13-MUSIC (Cont.) 12:45 P.

M. 2 GUIDING LIGHT 1:00 P. M. 2 MOVIE "The Paradine Case," Greqory Pact, Valii. Part Woman Is accused of murdering her husband.

Excellent mystery (1947). 4 MOVIE "Astonished Heart," Noal Coward, Margaret Leighton. Psychiatrist leaves his wife for another woman. Soap opera (1950). 6 MOVIE ''Hunted Men," Lloyd Nolan.

Mary Carlisle. Gangster uses family as hostages. Junior G-man stuff (1938). 7 SUSIE 9- 1 MARRIED JOAN 10- ABOUT FACES 11- LUNCHEON AT THE ONES 13 READING 8 now. For the time being, however, they're sticking to hoodlums as witnesses; Legs Diamond is the testifier tonight.

Fred J. Scollay plays Diamond and, If the program's history continues, Scollay's career will boom henceforth. Mayo says that every actor who has had a lead on the program has had a "tremondous career explosion" afterwards. Among other items on tonight's show Ls the first use of a Negro witness Maxwell Glanville, as a fighter trainer. And there's a good acting bit by Luis Van Rooten playing a man Diamond allegedly tortured by breaking his fingers with a pair of pliers.

It's just as well this tender scene is on too lata for the kids. Channel 2. he's chicken he hasn't told "Muth" yet. So Katy sticks her turned-up nose into the affair, and Muth winds up with an allergy to future daughters-in-law in general and Olive in particular. The lines here are a trifle more hep than usual, and Nye is in his glory.

Channel 2. 910 THE WITNESS, which had been spotted In the earlier children's part of the schedule, moves to this more appropriate hour tonight and producer Nick Mayo tells us he's "bullish" about the program's future and, of course, they are opposite each other. ABC's GUESTWARD HO! is wisely developing the character of Chief Hawkeye (J. Carrol Naish). Tonight's show is mostly his.

This last of the red-hot redskins meets his match in a North Dakota Sioux chief, paying a call in Pueblo country to see his son's fiancee. Jackie Coogan plays visiting Chief Blackbear. And when the two chiefs get together, comparing their profit margins on ponchos while preferring peace cigars to peace pipes, there is excellent humor. This show's chief drawback the over-precocious kid is sensibly being soft-pedaled, and if he repelled you at the start of the season, give it a try again. Channel 4.

Lovers of Louis Nye will have a ball on tonight's AXV SOTHERN SHOW, which this week moves into an earlier time period as part of CBS's grand realignment of its Thursday evening schedule. Nye is back in his characterization of the dentist, with Gladys Hurlhut as his dentist-mother, the grand old lady of the root canal set. The time has come for Olive (Ann Tyrrell) and Nye1 to name the day, but moves into an earlier time sgp PICTURE Ty i II ft a'" I IrtTTnl 1 3 :30 P.
