So, Erin Blanchette of Lake Worth, and fellow students from the Palm Beach County School of the Arts, decided to keep up their By CAROLYN SUSMAN Palm Beach Post Staff Writer Who wouldn't enjoy eating for a worthy cause? Giovanna Phillips of West Palm Beach figured that mixing good food, good conversation and good deeds would work. "I thought it might inspire other people. Why couldn't we have a lunch and charge for a charity? It's been a fantastic success, like one of those things you don't have to try hard to do. They love the idea of a good cause and having fun." The idea was to gather between 12-16 friends who wanted to learn French, or had some knowledge of the language.

They would meet at an area restaurant, and practice speaking French as they ordered and talked. The key ingredient? A required donation to Phillips' favorite charity, The Rehabilitation Center for Children and Adults in Palm Beach. Phillips is a longtime volunteer. "To date, there have been seven lunch parties, called 'les dejeuners en We put the donations in an envelope and mail them right after each lunch," she said. Some of the participants are from Belgium, Canada, and France, but no knowledge of French is required.

The luncheons will be held again in September. To attend, call Phillips at the end of August, at: 655-2760. Publix has pledged $125,000 for the building fund at the rate of $25,000 a year for five years. Fran Bain, president of Delta Sigma, says this is a project the Palm Beach County chapter looks forward to undertaking. Habitat for Humanity of Palm Beach County was established in 1987, dedicated to providing affordable housing. About a year ago, the organization began planning to establish a Habitat "neighborhood" of 20 homes. As a "warm up" for this project, Habitat volunteers have almost completed three houses since January in Lantana. Besim Lleshi and his wife and five children have already moved into one, sponsored by employees of the South Florida Water Management District and Bankers Trust Company.

Tito and Argentina Monge and their two children are expected to move into their home within a couple weeks. The Lawrence Foundation financed this construction. The Sementelli family will be able to move into their home by the end of August. The Royal Poinciana Chapel in Palm Beach underwrote this residence. Eight other students and Blanchette, from the school's theater department, have been portraying the various villains well-known from the acclaimed television show, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? "My favorite character is Starr Ling, the snobby actress type," says Blanchette. "She's very funny. One of my best friends plays the part." Each day, the camp children were given clues to solve a mystery. They picked up more clues from the characters they met in the zoo during the day.

The students showed up at 7:30 a.m. each day, a feat in itself. "They have enhanced the camp. They are fabulous," says zoo education manager Kristen Chris-tensen, who called the School of the Arts for help with the project. Blanchette is the school's Thespian Troupe secretary, and took on the responsibility of getting volunteers to participate.
