Born, Figs; Mrs. Delmar Krueger, Hot Peppers. CHILDREN'S DIVISION None SEGUIN GAZETTE WED. OCT. 5, 7 STEER CONTEST HELD SATURDAY The official welgh-in for the Commercial Steer Rate of Gain contest was held last Saturday, Sept.

24 at the Seguin Locker Plant. Some 29 calves were weighed in by 4-H members and FFA boys inGuadalupe County. These steers will be put on a regular home grown commercial ration and will be evaluated, judged and sold at the County Youth Livestock show January 30 and 31, 1961. The winner of the contest will be selected on points scored by the rate of gain of the calf added to the points given to the quality of the calf at show time. The 4-H club members in Guadalupc County who are participating in this program are James and Tommy Crump, Seguin; Kenneth and Vernon Winklemann, Clemens; Diane Meyer, Marion, Tom and David Anderson, Seguin; Morgan Turner, and Carole and Allen Schwarzkopf, Seguin.

Dennis Wagner, Route 1, Marion, joined the program too late for the Rate of Gain contest, but will show his calf in the County Youth Livestock show for ribbon and premium money. Gilbert M. Hartwick Jr. In Germany AUGSBURG, GERMANY (AHTNC) -Army Specialist Four Gilbert M. Hartwick 24, whose parents live on Route 1, Seguin, recently participated with other members of the 24th Infantry Division in Exercise Summer Shield, a two-week field training problem, in the Bavarian region of Germany.

The exercise provided the troops with practical experience in working as Independent units under Isolated field conditions. Specialist Hartwlck is assigned to the division's Headquarters Company in Augsburg. He entered the Army in 1957 and arrived overseas in January 1958. HERE COMES SANTA.
