Sutherland, Manning banker, was honored at a dinner at Saunders Cafe Monday evening in observance of his 30th year as a member of Manual Lodge, A.F. and A.M. Lester Joens, master of the Lodge, acted as master of ceremonies and read Mr. Sutherland's Lodge record. Elmer Mueller traced the history and background of the Sutherland family.

Manning pioneers. O. Pratt, secretary of the Lodge, spoke and presented Mr. Sutherland with his 50-year pin and certificate of life a membership of 409,488. Oregon was the first state to make Labor Day a legal holiday, in 1887.

is right and what is wrong?" he asked, "Or is there a right and a wrong that ought to test what we are doing? Have we forgotten the key? They key is you and the key is me." On his final theme, Mr. Hultman said "a man ought always to follow the paths beaten by great men. But let him be as an archer who aims at the mark far beyond and aims higher than his mark." This, he said, is the great challenge to everyone at every moment. "Our prayer should be, "God, give me the strength today to do my very best." Dr. Allen Anneberg was in charge of the program.

Clyde Bayliss, president of the Methodist Men, presided. Groups Entertain The meeting opened with invocation by the Rev. Ivan C. Bys, pastor of the church. The Methodist Men's quartet, consisting of Eddie Hannemann, Lee Bratten, Dale Textor and Victor 0.

Draheim, sang popular selections. The women's trio, composed of Mrs. Stephen Huffmann, Mrs. Donald H. Severin and Mrs.

Donald Kiser, accompanied by Mrs. Allen N. Stroh, also entertained with songs. Shelby Hagberg was in charge of presenting flowers to the ladies. Art Rogers, who has been chief cook for the men for several years, was honored.

eating this. "But certainly we would examine it," he said. The Sulphur Queen disappeared with 39 crewmen aboard. There is much the United States is not sure may never the attack on the shrimp boat. "I don't think we know the full reasons behind this attack on this vessel, whether it was a deliberate decision by the Cuban government or a decision by the pilots involved," Kennedy said.

He noted that the 67-foot boat was lying in the water withoyt flying any flag. Some military officials, remarking on the same aspect, suggested the MIGs flying at perhaps 405 or 500 miles an hour may have taken the drifting boat for a derelict and aimed pot shots at it for the practice. They missed by 6ome 40 yards, Kennedy said. Some congressmen clamored for "hot pursuit," but Kennedy was not being rushed into this. I "I would think that- when tfe have got a clearer pattern, then we could make a judgment on whether hot pursuit should be carried out to the shores of Cuba" the President said.

It is not known whether the four MIGs involved in Wednesday's incident were piloted by Soviets or Cubans, but Kennedy said "these planes came from Cuba and flew under a Cuban flag." Therefore, the President said wryly, "unless the Soviet Union should claim they were flying them, we would hold the Cubans responsible." In line with' this, the U.S. government sent a sharply-worded diplomatic note to Castro's government Thursday night demanding a prompt and unequivocal explanation of what was denounced an "unpovoked and willful attack" on the shimp boat. The note was delivered by the Swiss Embassy in Havana several hours after the Castro government rejected the U.S. allegations in advance. The Cuban communique, broadcast by Havana Radio, said two Cuban reconnaissance planes came upon a small fishing boat which looked as if it might be one of a pair of craft allegedly seized by anti-Castro elements last week.

After satisfying themselves it was not a Cuban boat, the Havana communique said, the planes left "without firing any shots or carrying out acts of hostility against her." Better Job In closing, he said that agriculture needs to do a better job of informing the public of its accomplishments and the effect on the general economy. Victor Tomka, president of the association, extended the welcome. Harry Gamagt, secretary of the Sioux City Livestock Exchange, served as master of ceremonies. The Rt.
