ODD MOMENTS. Said a discouraged woman, "If you had ever tried to work by snatches, you will know how hard it is to get anything done that way." bad to do a Rteat deal of work aud study juat that way, by responded the other, quickly. "I had to learn to systemize my odds and end' of time. So I know it can be done." These "odd minutes," which we al lose in our days, count up amazingly Fifteen minutes multiplied by foui make an hour. And so many times a day we let slip fifteen minutes! Fifteen minutes waiting for ones to come down to breakfast teen minutes waiting for the lunohepn or dinner bell to dug Fifteen minutes waiting a dress maker's for the child to come back from an errand or for the restless baby to goto sleep Not to speak of the half-hours aud hours spent in trains and boats 1 When at night the busy woman counts up her used and wasted 'opportunities, she thinks, despairingly, "If I only had those odd minutes in one lump at one time, how much I could accom plish which now seems unattainable But something can be done with these odd moments which are so exaiperat- ingly unproductive to the diligent one This is indisputable, because there are those who have used just cucli minutes to advantage.

Many true examples rise np to confirm the statement. A woman who was obliged to wait at the breakfast table for a dozen boarders to straggle down, iq uer waiting moments manufactured yards of dainty lace, which she found a profitable way of employing the time. Another young woman who daily waited a quarter of an hour for an elderly friend to go driving, kept a book on the hall table and. Hi waiting many times one summer managed to do a creditable amount of reading. Another kept a novel -'going" in each room of the house, and whenever she waited foi dinner managed to read a few chapters of which ever book was handiest, only reading moments of one busy nad was the time she spent every day putting her baby to sleep, and hei book ww kept in readiaess for tout It (a told of one industrious young girl that she constantly prochetec during the lierdrawing teachei wtw explaining perspective or sharpened her pencil, put tnis does, seem carry ing minute-saving very for.

Bazar, THIS HQRg A well known writer things the cause of our trouble in the horse industry He writes to tjili peMod the tot Ifottlng speed took posseislota of tnett Of Wealth and leisure everywhere, and ttense bfeedlntf WefO eslabllshctl all over th6 (SounUy, And tftfetof, lawyer, UefcbaHt And preacher that owned A fairly good mare became aesied of the ideu that lie could bleed a Dexter, aGoldsmlUi Maid of a Miuut and so on. Between the age of thn European draft and couch breeds and the ambition to breed a phenomenal trotter from our home stock, everybody, doctors, lawyers, merchants, preachers, teachers, farmers and manufacturers turned to horse breeding either on or small behold iho result: Our country is full of fuller in proportion to its population than any other civilized country on the face of the globe we have simply got to point where the thing must stop for our human population to catch up with the equine supply, or until war, epidemic or natural cause shall have reduced it to normal proportion. "I confess this a not a cheerful outlook, but I believe it is a plain, unvarnished statement of the conditions with which horse-breeders are now confronted. There is no good in attempting to deny the there you are. We have too many the plain English of it.

Of course those that are exceptionally well adapted to any use which either business or pleasure may require, will continue to find a market at more or less renumerative prices, but while so many are bred the range of selections will be so great that those who have only fairly good or inferior ones will have hard work to llnd a market. Wecau't eat them or export them in large numbers and thus reduce the surplus, as we do cattle, sheep and we are shut up to just one must reduce the supply by ceasing to breed from any but the very best mares; our breedinu must be on definite lines, for a definite directed by intelligence and a knowledge how to breed to hit the market. It is no longer a question of how many foals that will be worth the raising. The business will right itself after while, but it is the part of wisdom to adapt ourselves as speedily as possibly to existing conditions. There was a time when it paid to raise any sort of ahorse, but that time has passed by, and the present generation of breeders will not see it again.

"The situation is not without some compensating advantages. We have a uood supply of the best specimens of all the desirable breeds of the world, and now that we are compelled to go slow we shall dud it a good thing to weed out and breed up with a definite purpose in view, and I predict that the next quarter of a century will witness as irreat an increase in the average quality of our horses as that just past has witnessed in numbers." A. L. Hare, of Catharine township, Republican shrievality candidate, is iu Tyrone today. John Hess and wife, of Greensburg, arrived in Tyrone today for a risit amo.ig friends.

Cyrus Edson. "It is such a simple thing and so common that very few people, unless it is a case of pheumonia, pay any attention to a cold. New York is one of the healthiest places on the Atlantic coast and et there are a great many cases of catarrh and consumption which have their origin in this neglect of the simpliest precaution of every day life.
