Tht Associated Press LOS ANGELES NBC, the network that had sand kicked in its face for nine years, pounded rivals ABC and CBS in the latest Nielsen survey with strong showings for The Cosby Show and the rest of its Thursday night lineup. NBC won the first eight places in the Top 10, five of the next 10 and was nearly three ratings points ahead of second-place ABC for the week ended June 2. CBS; the perennial champion, trailed far behind in third place.

The network won every night of the week except Sunday, gaining its greatest margin of victory since the World Series last October, when it had a seven-point margin. Murrow and William S. Pa-ley, will be depicted in the made-for-TV movie Murrow on HBO. The pay-cable network said Daniel Travanti from Hill Street Blues ill play Murrow, the late CBS News correspondent who is considered by many to be the father of network tliews. Murrow died 20 years ago. Dabney Coleman is cast as Pa ley, -now 83, the founder and former I chairman of CBS.

Coleman was selected for the role, Fuchs said, because the character required "a versatile actor who could be charming on the surface, but, deep down, could play hardball." Fuchs called Paley "the most important figure in the history of broadcasting." Fuchs said HBO would have liked to have had Paley played by an actor the 1950s and the relationship between Murrow and his boss, Paley. HBO also announced that Charles Bronson will star in the cable film Act of Vengeance, based on the events surrounding the 1969 assassinations of dissident United Mine Workers official Joseph (Jock) Yab-lonski and his wife and daughter by corrupt officials of the coal miners' union.
