Penn Glee Club visits, will sing in Scottsdale By Jessica VanZalen THE REPUBLIC AZCENTRAL.COM With the rising fascination surrounding glee clubs, the University of Pennsylvania Glee Club hopes to get toes tapping Saturday at el Pedregal in Scottsdale. The 148-year-old club prides itself on its extensive collection of songs, ranging from traditional to contemporary, American spirituals to German drinking songs, opera choruses to Broadway show tunes. "The thing that really sets us apart from other singing groups across the country is we have an incredibly diverse repertoire, and the music we will be performing is diverse from the Renaissance to modern day," said Lee Crain, glee club president. The club is also seeing higher attendance and recognition with the of the Fox TV series "Glee." More people popularity understand the club what they do, Crain said. "It's really neat to see the country really getting excited over musicals and singing but again, not just from a pop-culture level, from the music level," he said.

"You get to travel around with 30 of your best friends and get to share music with people from all over the country and all over the world," he said. "Last year, we went to Colombia, Panama and Costa Rica, and we get to share that with all these places.
