All power to Bedford, Oolitic, Mitchell, Orleans and Paoli was cut off for seven minutes after the explosion at the Garvey Lane substation of the Public Service Company of Indiana. Byron Pearson, district man' ager for the utility, said workmen switched to other equipment shortly after the explosion occurred.
