B. Lawrence Figured Placed On Bluefield Gas And Power Company Liability for an acririent at Mue- flelrt. V.i., In which the Inte Joseph B. Lawrence, who became nationally known because of his many blood transfusions, was shitted from the town to the Bluefield Ons and Power company, under a ruling Friday of the Virginia state Biipremo court. Affirmation of the judgment of I he Tazewell circuit court means the town will bo repaid the $2,000 principal which it settled upon the Lawrence estate.

In addition to an almost equal amount representing Interest. e.ostB and attorneys' fees. Lawrence brought suit for $2,000 in 1932, claiming damages for injuries be said he received when he fell into an open and unprotected ditch near his home. lie recovered the full amount and the judgment was paid to his eslatc following his death which occurred during the litigation. With the $2,000 Judgment, the town paid out fees nnd costs which swelled the total to $3,100.

Suit for this amount then was introduced Service corporation, parent company of Bluefield Gas and Tower, by the town of Bluefield, Va. Additional costs and attorneys' fees were demanded In the new complaint, which brought the total to almost $4,000, and the city won In Tazewell court, basing its claim upon the fact the gas company had opened the ditch for new mains in the town.
