Born on July 12, the female calf weighs 23 pounds and is three feet long. It is the first time a porpoise has been mated and had a calf here. Porpoise births in captivity are rare. The baby will nurse from its mother up to the age of 18 months. Porpoises are noted for their playfulness and friendliness with human beings.
